A community in West Derby is coming together to raise funds to create a local memorial park named after Olivia Pratt-Korbel, who was tragically shot and killed aged nine when a gunman forced his way into her family's home in Dovecot last August. The planned memorial park has the full support of Olivia’s family.

This week in Parliament I asked whether the Government intends to pause capital dredging at freeports whilst we await findings on the environmental catastrophe and mass die-off of marine life in the North Sea.

Newcastle fans caught in overcrowding at Hillsborough Stadium at the weekend say the conditions were unsafe. I never thought we would be seeing images such as these again, 34 years on from Hillsborough.

On Monday I had the opportunity to question senior officials at the Department for Levelling Up, Housing and Communities at a Committee evidence session. I told the witnesses that there is no evidence of “levelling up and resilience” in Liverpool.

A survey by NHS Charities Together and the Observer has found that thousands of NHS staff, including nurses, are already seeking help from foodbanks, with numbers expected to rise in the coming months.

Another rock solid RMT picket line this week at Lime Street Station, where public support for striking rail staff remains overwhelming, despite right-wing media spin. The public knows that responsibility for this dispute lies firmly at the feet of Government.

Strategic, targeted strikes are being organised by PCS across the civil service after 100,000 PCS members in 214 government departments and other public bodies voted to take strike action over a 10% pay rise, pensions justice, job security and no cuts to redundancy terms. The Tories yesterday confirmed plans for new anti-strike legislation to enforce “minimum service levels” in six key public services including the NHS, transport and schools in "the coming weeks".

I recently wrote to the Prime Minister over NHS pay, calling on Rishi Sunak to negotiate with trade unions and to give NHS workers a meaningful pay rise.

I have this week written to the Secretary of State for Health and Social Care regarding NHS services for West Derby constituents, including access to services and waiting times.

Last week I tabled a further Early Day Motion on full state pension restitution to 1950s-born women and specifically to the 3,600 West Derby constituents affected.
