Voting for Labour’s Railway Services Bill

Last night I voted for Labour’s excellent bill to bring rail services back into public ownership. Privatisation of our railways has failed and it is absolutely right that we put rail passengers and rail workers before profits.

Earlier in the day I was proud to join with Mick Whelan, General Secretary of ASLEF, fellow Parliamentarians and campaigners who have long called for renationalised rail to mark the end of the 30-year failure that is privatisation of Britain's railways.

An historic day.
