UEFA to refund LFC fans with Paris tickets

UEFA this week announced that it will issue refunds to all 19,618 Liverpool fans who had tickets for the Champions League after the near-disaster at the CL Final in Paris last May.

This is an unprecedented move by UEFA and it is important to note that this would never have been possible if it wasn't for the resilient work of Spirit Of Shankly, Liverpool Disabled Supporters Association  (LDSA) and the thousands of fans who shared their experiences of what happened on the night.

This gesture by UEFA is a small step in their acceptance of responsibility for Paris. The money is largely irrelevant; this is much more about the truth being acknowledged, a full apology being made and all 21 recommendations being implemented, which must now happen at pace.

A joint statement by Liverpool’s supporter union Spirit of Shankly and Liverpool Disabled Supporters Association (LDSA) issued on Tuesday 7th March said:
