Shameless Johnson forced out, but we’re still under Tory rule

Boris Johnson has commanded a media circus at every stage of his political career and his end game proved to be no different, although his recent shamelessness did seem to shock even his closest of allies.

At the time of writing, Johnson has just announced that he will go, but will remain in post until his successor is found. But whether this over-privileged Bullingdon Boy stays in number 10 for another few hours, days or months, the sombre fact remains that eleven million people will still be unable to afford food because of Tory political choices and this situation will continue regardless of which Tory is at the helm.

Johnson has toxified his government and the Tories and his party’s MPs have enabled his ongoing undermining of Parliamentary standards for many months. Just two weeks ago Labour gained Wakefield with a strong majority which shows that we are capable of winning the seats we need to win a General Election.

An opportunity awaits for a transformative Labour Government, and we must take it.
