EFRA Committee: EA staff ‘working 1 day in 5 for free’

Ian Byrne MP at EFRA Committee this week was told by the Chief Executive of the Environment Agency that their workers are using foodbanks.

The average Environment Agency worker's salary is 20% lower in real terms than in 2010. That is the equivalent of working 1 day in 5 for free.

I raised this at the Commons EFRA Committee this week and was told by the Chief Executive of the Environment Agency that some EA workers are leaving the organisation because they ‘can’t afford to work for them’ anymore. He also said some EA workers are using foodbanks.

You can watch me in the Committee session in the video clip below.
