NHS privatisation has deadly consequences for patients

This week saw provisions in the Health and Care Act 2022 come into effect which hands decision-making about local health services over to democratically unaccountable third parties, including private companies. Tragically, this Integrated Care System (ICS) model being rolled out will not guarantee a patient’s right to access the healthcare they need when they need it.

These changes to our health service come as research published in a devastating report in the The Lancet shows the systemic privatisation of the NHS over the last 40 years has had deadly consequences for patients and is linked to a decline in patient care quality.

The graph below could not be clearer. Privatisation kills, pure and simple.

I will always work for an end to the privatisation of our NHS.
