Letter to Health & Social Care Secretary re West Derby dental care

Many constituents have been in touch about difficulties in accessing NHS dental care and the impact this has had on their health, wellbeing and finances.

I have today written to the Secretary of State for Health and Social Care, Sajid Javid MP, calling on him to provide the support and funding that dentists need to clear the backlog of treatments caused by Covid, and to train the number of extra NHS dentists needed in the long term.

Access to NHS dental treatment is a critical frontline medical care and the Government has a duty to provide it. I urged the Secretary of State to set out exactly how the Government will now make sure that NHS dental treatment is available in West Derby.
